WTF Wednesday: Trump for President!

With Ted Cruz out of the race, Donald Trump is the presumptive republican nominee for president of the United States. If you had told me that five years ago I would have laughed in your face. How absurd! Trump is like Scrooge McDuck but with way more bankruptcies. He’s a misogynist, a super racist, an Islamaphobe, conspiracy theorist and flat out liar — Ok, that’s a very unfair comparison to Mr. McDuck. If nothing else, his ridiculous stint on reality TV should be enough to disqualify him. But, I guess he’s just saying what a lot of America is thinking. And that’s even more WTF.

This guy is literally a walking breathing punchline:

Trump’s strategy is capitalizing off of people’s fears and pandering to the lowest common denominator. His calls to ban Muslims from the United States is a perfect example. Toddlers have killed more people in the United States in 2016 than Muslim terrorists have, but that doesn’t stop him from making insane proposals to round up Muslims. Why isn’t he talking about gun reform? Because this isn’t about lives, this is about doing and saying anything to get into power.

I’ve been in denial about the plausibility of a Trump presidency. Now I’m scared — and making plans for a move to Canada. Y’all got your passports ready?

  1. I love the writing here, and will reblog this if you don’t mind in a day or two. Let me stir the waters as a Republican, conservative white guy.
Trump is not the things that are being said about him, anymore that President Obama is exactly what the right-leaning comics have said about him.
He’s not my choice for president, but I’ve seen a few presidents, and I no longer fear the collapse of humankind just because I don’t like the person serving in the Oval Office. As long as there’s some sanity in left and right politics, we’ll get through the Trump years or Clinton years.

By the way, when this arrived in my email (I follow The Civil Word) the phrase “This guy is literally a walking punch line.” was displayed directly above the President’s picture. Video links translate to still pictures without the start button. Oddly, a fair number of my conservative friends send emails like that all the time.

    1. Thanks Dave! Please feel free to reblog. I think you’re right- it’s very possible that not much will change either way. I am more bummed about the missed opportunity for a Sanders presidency, though. I guess it’s not over yet!
