The Civil Tube: Neil deGrasse Tyson on Why We Don’t Have a More Diverse S.T.E.M. World

Watch as Neil deGrasse Tyson takes a moment out of his day to explain why we see so few women and people of color in the science and technology fields. Many people like to believe that the problem is fundamentally biological — because obviously women and brown people don’t have the intellectual chops necessary to make it in the science world. In response, Tyson proposes that maybe, just maybe, it’s stereotypes, social stigmas and general racist/sexist douchebaggery that turns a lot of people off from persisting in — or even entering — the STEM work. Anyways, give the video a watch and do a fist pump at the end.
