Yesterday, Washington became the seventh state to recognize a gay couples right to marriage. I thought it would be only fitting to highlight such a triumph on Valentine’s day.
But I also have a number for you today. Sort of, it’s something around 4 minutes. That’s the amount of time it took Washington State Representative Maureen Walsh to turn me into a big blubbering fool over the issue of gay marriage.
When I moved to Seattle a few months ago, I was exposed to a gay culture more out and more proud than any I had the pleasure of experiencing before. Seeing my new state expand civil rights to more of its citizens has been an exciting process and at least for today, Miss Walsh’s comments embody what it’s all truly about.
